Croatian-born jazz vocalist Lela Kaplowitz marks her first appearance on the DCINY Artist Series with a unique program of original music promoting her new album "To One" to be released on PARMA Recordings. A vocal improvisationalist, Kaplowitz aims to “raise the beauty out of ordinary, daily life” through her personal connection with the inspirational power of music. Kaplowitz actively records, performs and teaches throughout Europe and the US, this concert marks her Carnegie Hall debut.

Hailed as a “strong violinist” by The New York Times, Honduran-born Jorge Ávila is the current concertmaster for Distinguished Concerts International New York and makes his DCINY Artist Series Debut with this performance. A recipient of various awards and honors, he has won attention as an outstanding violinist through numerous appearances as a soloist, recitalist, concertmaster, and chamber musician. Jorge is joined on the piano by his longtime friend and collaborator, Adrienne Kim.

DCINY presents an evening of Mediterranean-inspired music by Greek composer Dinos Constantinides. Constantinides’ works have been performed throughout the United States, Europe, and Asia. In this concert, The Kutztown Chamber Players (Peter Isaacson, Conductor) along with faculty members from the Louisiana State University School of Music perform his original compositions.

Polish flutist Elżbieta Woleńska is a dynamic artist who embraces both traditional and contemporary classical music. The recipient of numerous prizes at national and international competitions, Woleńska frequently performs as a soloist as well as with orchestras and chamber ensembles. Her repertoire includes compositions written for bass, alto, and piccolo flutes. Her latest album, Souvenir (2012) includes the world premiere recording of works by XIX century flute virtuoso Johann Sedlatzek. This concert marks Elżbieta Woleńska and Zhang Moru’s DCINY Artist Series Debut at Carnegie Hall.

Loralee Songer, mezzo-soprano, is an active recitalist, opera and oratorio performer, conductor, and educator. She holds a doctor of arts degree in vocal performance and choral conducting from Ball State University and teaches applied voice, conducting, and other music-related courses at Taylor University in Upland, Indiana. This performance marks Songer’s DCINY Artist Series Debut at Carnegie Hall.

Sing! Christmas Dreams

DCINY kicks off the holiday season with the world premiere of composer/conductor Joseph Martin’s Christmas Evergreen with the Distinguished Concerts Orchestra and Singers International, as well as his festive work Christmas Dreams with co-composer/pianist Heather Sorenson. Composer/Conductor Mary McDonald and Joel Raney premiere their work Sing Christmas with the Distinguished Concerts Orchestra and Singers International.
