Never Too Early, Often Too Late: Overcoming Patient, Family, And Provider Resistance To Advance Care Planning

At the end of life, many patients unwittingly undergo more invasive and expensive treatment than they want, while others fail to get all the aggressive treatments they prefer.  Both are clear violations of patients’ right to self-determination and result in untold suffering and out-of-control expenses.  The good news is that patients who complete the necessary documents are far more likely to get the type of end-of-life care they want. Dr. Stuart will document the need for advance care planning.
