Is Prison Abolition A Reality?

The concept of prison abolition has gained significant traction in recent years : Can the U.S.’s current state of punitive mass incarceration be dismantled in favor of a more socially productive, perhaps restorative, system? Is the abolition of prisons a realistic goal that Americans should strive toward, or are we forgetting the purpose of punishment at our own peril? Our panel will feature a diverse cross-section of academics and activists who will respond to questions on this topic.
