Spinning Race, Citizenship and Fear on the Campaign Trail

Presented by: Professor Jack Tchen, New York University Professor and Co-Author of “Yellow Peril!: An Archive of Anti-Asian Fear”

This program will discuss the historical roots of immigrant bashing and lessons we can learn from the anti-Chinese campaigns of the 1870s and the 1882 Chinese Exclusion Act (the impact of which was still felt until 1968).

After the program, please join us for a wine and cheese reception. Please arrive on time! ID is required to enter the building.
