A Closer Look: The World of the Ashcan School

Georgetown University affiliate faculty professor Bonita Billman presents a three-part lecture series on some of the artists who became known as the “Ashcan School” for the earthy, urban subjects and social concerns they depicted around the turn of the twentieth century. Featured artists are Everett Shinn, George Luks, John Sloan, William Glackens, Robert Henri, and George Bellow. Space is limited.
