Amateur Actors and Singers Wanted
for New Fall Workshop and December Performance
(Especially MEN!)
Have You Ever Fantasized About Being a Broadway Musical Star?
Now You Can Live Out Your Dream in the ...
Broadway Musical Fantasy Camp
Regular workshop rehearsals for a staged-reading of
The Music Man
begin in early September at a
Midtown Manhattan Rehearsal Studio
.

We would like to invite you to be part of an exciting 12-week workshop for a
motivated amateur or aspiring professional like yourself; someone who is a
fan of Broadway musicals and who loves to sing and perform. During each 2
1/2 to 3-hour weekly workshop, you will be part of a cast that will rehearse
the classic Broadway musical The Music Man in preparation for a
staged-reading performance in a Manhattan theater in front of family and
friends. NO previous singing or performing experience is required. This
musical workshop is a fun, exciting, no-pressure opportunity for you to play
a part in a show. And you don't have to sing like Judy Kaye or Harry
Connick, Jr. Our directors and musical director are experienced
professionals who will work with the participants on acting, voice and
movement.
The workshop also invites veteran Broadway actors, singers and
choreographers to work on specific scenes and songs. Previous workshops have
performed the classic musicals South Pacific, Fiddler on the Roof, Damn
Yankees and Guys and Dolls. Our workshop for Guys and Dolls was featured in
a New York Daily News article in June 2003.

While we have a solid group of people interested in participating in our next production, we still have room for more, especially a few more good men who could be part of the Barbershop Quartet! The role of Harold Hill is already cast, but every other casting slot is open for the person who fits! Everyone who signs up is guaranteed a part as either a lead, a featured role, or the men's or women's chorus.
Almost every cast member participates in all the big production numbers for the show and the script is edited to make sure every cast member has at least a couple of lines. There are auditions before we start rehearsals, but only to decide on roles people will play, not on whether you will be able to participate. NOBODY WHO SHOWS INTEREST IS REJECTED. |
The cost for this unique workshop, plus the performance, is $375. A $75
non-refundable registration fee is required at the audition, which will be
scheduled at the end of the summer. If you decide to continue, the balance
will be payable by the second rehearsal.
Workshop rehearsals are tentatively
scheduled to begin on Wednesday night, September 6, 2006 and will be held on
subsequent Wednesday nights until mid-December. Rehearsals will start at
either 6:30 or 7 pm and run 2 1/2 to 3 hours. The rehearsal space is still
being determined, but it will be in midtown Manhattan near 34th Street. The
performance is tentatively scheduled for Saturday night, December 16 (but
could be earlier).
