For the 2010 Dorothy H. Hirshon Film Festival, Director-in-Residence, Haile Gerima, screens his 1993 classic film Sankofa. The screening is followed by excerpts from his newest work Teza and conversation with Mr. Gerima. "[Sankofa] isn't just a sermon or a period piece [on slavery]. It's a worthy film, made with passion and conviction and artistry, and it ought to be seen." - Jay Carr, Boston Globe, 1993. Sponsored by the Department of Media Studies and Film at The New School.
